Our olive oil comes from our farms on the island of Crete, in Greece. The specific region where we have our olives is the municipality of Kofinas, after the mountain range that towers over the area. Some of the land has been in the family for generations, but most of the farm (individual plots not necessarily next to each other) were purchased by my grandparents and passed on to my mother and her brother. We still take care of the trees and harvest them every winter.
So why did we start bringing our olive oil to sell here in the U.S.? We used to bring back canisters of olive oil for us to enjoy every time we visited Crete . Not too long ago, we thought it would be a good idea to ship over a larger quantity so that others can enjoy it as well. Cretan extra virgin olive oil truly is the best tasting olive oil in the world. |
